Dopey Monkey Brass Workshop

Dundee Congregational Church 25 September 2026

Participants were 19 senior students from Dundee Schools playing cornets, trumpets, french horns, euphoniums, trombones and percussion. The aim of the workshop was to develop ensemble playing and improvisation through working on re-arranging an original composition by Dopey Monkeycalled Fresh Fish. This was the first in a planned set of three events that will lead to a public performance of Fresh Fish at a concert in June 2027.


The workshohp began with warm up exercises






Fresh Fish incudes "breakfast percussion" with participants working on five overlapping rhythms played with spoons on coffee cups. Participants took it in turns to lead the ensemble and decide the sequences of sounds.
The workshop continmued with arrangement of Frish Fish for the participating instruments
